RE: CALL FOR ABSTRACTS AND REGISTRATION FOR THE 11TH TAWIRI SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE, 6-8 DECEMBER 2017

The Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute (TAWIRI) is pleased to announce a call for abstracts and registration for the 11th TAWIRI Scientific Conference that will be held at the Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC) in Arusha, Tanzania from 6-8 December 2017. We would like to bring your attention to the following updates:-

Conference Theme

‘People, Livestock and Climate change: Challenges for sustainable biodiversity conservation’

Conference Sub-Themes

  • Impact of livestock, human population and climate change on biodiversity conservation and ecosystem services
  • Wildlife ecology and ecological interactions
  • Wetland and water resources management
  • Wildlife diseases and ecosystem health
  • Beekeeping development, technology and innovation
    Abstracts

Call for abstracts will be open from 01st March to 30th July 2017. Abstracts should be limited to a maximum of 300 words for both oral and poster presentations. Specifically, the abstract should be organized as follows; title, name(s) of author(s) and addresses, brief background/objectives of the study, methodology, results and conclusion. Authors of accepted abstracts for oral/poster presentation will be notified by September 30th 2017. Abstracts for symposia or seminars/workshops are also invited; these should indicate the title of the symposia/workshop, organizers, number of presenters/participants, etc. Submit your abstract for oral/poster presentation as well as symposia/workshop abstract to tawiriconference2017@tawiri.or.tz or researchclearance@tawiri.or.tz

Full paper submission

Oral or poster presentations at the conference will be subject to submission of full manuscripts. The length of each full manuscript should not be more than 12 pages including references (single spaced). For poster presentation, the poster size should not exceed 120 cm x 90 cm. Registration fees

  1. Early bird registration fee is 270,000 TZS for developing countries and 250 USD for developed countries.
  2. Late or onsite registration is 350,000 TZS for developing countries and 300 USD for developed countries.
  3. Early bird registration is open from 1st March – 30th August 2017.

Tourism and sight seeing

Arusha city, popularly known as the Geneva of Africa is the hub of tourism activities in Tanzania, with a number of nearby tourism attractions including Arusha National Park, Kilimanjaro National Park, Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Serengeti National Park. Participants interested to participate in tourism activities before or after the conference should contact any of the tour companies in Arusha/Tanzania.
