Legal Services Unit

This unit is responsible for providing legal support on various issues; indexing, filing, registering Government/Institute notices and all other legal documents and ensure their safe custody; compiling evidence relevant for court cases involving the Institute; attending to registration of all legal documents and probate matters; taking charge of documents and correspondences of already assigned cases; dealing with all legal routine correspondences addressed to the Institute; and filing and appear for criminal proceedings in courts.

The unit is also responsible for representing Institute in more complex legal actions in collaboration with the Solicitor General; participating in negotiations for writing up of general contracts pertaining to such leases and transfer of properties with outside parties; handling, negotiating and drafting of commercial contracts and other legal instruments; being Secretariat to the Board of Directors and follow up the implementation of Board directives; and liaising with Parent Ministry and the Attorney General’s Chambers on legal matters related to TAWIRI.
